The newest trend to hit the marketplace is actually the best thing for us. Everywhere you look these days you see Hybrid this and green that. While I am glad and have always supported recycling and cleaner burning fuels, at what point does it become overkill? How does redesigning the shape of a bottle make it a greener product?
To be truly green, wouldn’t you just pour yourself a glass of water instead of buying a bottle that then has to be thrown into a recycling bin, processed, recycled and then redistributed in some other form? Think about the pollution from the trucks that transport the recyclables… The processing plants which take up wildlife space and use electricity, the trucks that transport the raw material for re-distribution… All for an Eco-friendly re-designed bottle of water…
I hear ya,"It’s better to recycle than throw it away…” Well, of course, and that’s why we all do it…
Customers are always looking for a cheaper greener solution, so if your company offers anything type of green product, now is the time to cash in on that. Before you know it, the trend will become norm and everyone will be looking in the direction of the next one!

You wouldn’t believe how often this is asked. Companies all over are trying to get into the social networking scene to make it work for them, unfortunately, not every company can benefit from it. In certain industries it does work and makes sense, but in others… Not so much. Here are some of my thoughts on how to know whether it is a good fit for your company!
Is my demographic actively using a specific social network? Well, if you are in auto parts or construction, most likely your not going to find many of your key customers on twitter or facebook. There are a few exceptions, as always, such as auto customization shops and home automation solutions, their demographic would be a bit different and would benefit from this type of exposure.
Companies that definately benefit from social networking are dating sites, real-estate sites and Entertainment related companies. Also, cosmetic and Fashion industry’s could find a great teen niche by utilizing twitter and face book. These are just a few and many more can also benefit if targeted correctly.
The key to any good marketing plan is find out what your demographics are doing and beat them there. In an era of change and rapid trends, if you hesitate, you miss opportunities that could cost you a lot more than money to catch back up…
Peace!

So many people these days are watching TV in a different way. I know personally, I am a huge TiVo supporter. The ease of not missing a show, watching TV my way and the ability to download movies, TV shows and extra content has completely changed the way I watch TV. On the consumer side of this, I don’t have to watch commercials or be home at a specific time to catch the latest episode of Lost. Unfortunately, I am also on the marketing side of this revolution also. So what to do???
I believe this is going to change the way TV Commercials are made. Many times, consumers, buzz right through the commercials and on to the show, but if Commercials are optimized for DVR’s, then as an advertiser, you can make sure your brand is seen, the message is relayed and understood more comprehensively. While not every DVR fast forwards at the same speed, by adjusting message length and active brand appearance you can assure that it will be seen as intended by most. And I can hear the question now, “Colby, what about people that don’t have a DVR or do not fast forward through Commercials? How will the commercials appear to them?”
It’ll appear to run just like they normally do. How can this be done? Well, by simply placing the brand in a static position for the entirety of the Commercial and allowing the main message to stay on screen longer. This will burn those images and messages into the Fast Forwarder’s mind and the normal watcher as well.
If these changes are ever implemented to commercials, then TiVoer’s and DVR User’s alike can stay in touch with what’s happening with their favorite brands by being reminded to check out their website or go buy the newest revolutionary product.
On another note… After many hours, crossed-eyes and blank stares, The design, development, testing and launch of Kreation by Colby was a success! Thank you to everyone who patiently waited, pep-talked and encouraged me to the completion of this project!

Well, I have opened a new area to the website with this update. I have decided to start a web design blog. This will be the place I discuss upcoming projects, current projects and basic web design and development conversations.
I’ll sit down at least once every couple of weeks to keep you updated. Feel free to criticize, compliment and offer your ideas to each topic in our blog. Sometimes there will be links to what’s being worked on and any ideas just floating around in my head.
Check back often and give your 2 cents.
Peace!
